Flexible manufacturing produces Airbus components
Small to medium-size wing components for the Airbus A330 family of long-range, wide-body jetliners are now in production through a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) which is in operation at a leading aerospace subcontractor in the south of England. The FMS incorporates five Hermle 5-axis, vertical-spindle machining centres - four C 42 Us and a larger C 52 U, the first to be installed in the UK.

RF transistor's 65V LDMOS technology speeds power design
Availability and full design support capabilities for a new 65V, wideband RF power LDMOS transistor from NXP Semiconductors has been announced by Richardson RFPD. The MRFX1K80H is the first product in NXP's MRFX series. It is designed to deliver 1800W CW at 65V for applications from 1.8 to 400MHz and is capable of handling 65:1 VSWR.

Weight-saving 38999 connectors survive 1500 mating cycles
TE Connectivity (TE)’s DEUTSCH MIL-DTL-38999 series next generation ACT composite connectors which deliver up to 40 percent weight savings over similar aluminum devices are available at Aerco. TE’s DEUTSCH group created one of the original composites in 1990, and its ACT series shells are lightweight, and highly resistant to corrosion, withstanding 2000 hours of salt spray, and very durable, surviving 1,500 mating cycles.

United Electronic Industries (UEI) has announced its new line of EtherCAT compliant I/O cubes. The DNA-ECAT series of I/O chassis is based on UEI’s popular DNA-series Cubes, but includes a new CPU module specifically designed to run as an EtherCAT slave. The DNA-ECAT offers all the I/O flexibility of the DNA Cubes, including compatibility with over 60 different I/O boards.
