WEG develops anti-viral coating to protect against COVID-19

Industrial equipment manufacturer, WEG has developed a new anti-viral coating from its WEG Coatings and Varnishes Unit in Brazil. Developed for use on professional machinery and equipment used in hospitals, laboratories and medical settings, the new coating reportedly makes 99.9% of coronavirus inactive within minutes of contact with the surface.

WEG has launched a new member of the MW500 series of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). Designed for decentralised installation, the MW500 VSDs are now available for operating induction motors with low power in the range of 370-550W.

Sugarcane renewable energy to generate 155GWh per year

An electrical solution for biomass energy generation has been designed and installed at a major sugarcane processing mill in Mexico by WEG. As the first cogeneration project in the country, the scheme reuses sugarcane bagasse as a renewable energy resource to generate nearly 155GWh per year, which would be enough to supply around 28,000 homes with power for 12 months.
