The Defence Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has concluded phase one of its Autonomous Last Mile Resupply programme, which challenged industry and academia to design pioneering technology to deliver vital supplies to soldiers on the front line. Among the entrants selected to participate in the programme was the TITAN autonomous ground vehicle, produced by QinetiQ in collaboration with Milrem, which showcased its capability at QinetiQ’s Hurn proving ground in February.

VPX carrier board suitable for FMC and FMC+ modules
A 3U VPX carrier board has been introduced by Pentek for FMC and FMC+ modules based on the high performance Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA. The JadeFX Model 5983 includes a VITA-57.4 FMC site providing access to a wide range of I/O options. When combined with any of Pentek’s Flexor FMCs to create a FlexorSet, it becomes a complete multichannel data conversion and processing subsystem suitable for connection to IF, HF or RF ports of a communications or radar system.

Lockheed Martin supports manned fire of AJAX turret
  The Lockheed Martin UK turret, developed with General Dynamics Land Systems - UK for the British Army’s AJAX vehicle, has successfully completed initial manned live fire. The milestone event took place last month at a trial in west Wales. The formal qualification trials are testing the vehicle’s CTAI 40mm (CT40) cannon and the 7.62mm chain gun.

According to General Micro Systems (GMS), the US Army will deploy powerful rugged server and display systems from GMS to run the Multifunction Video Display (MVD) software within Type II Medium Mine Protection Vehicles (MMPV). Composed of four different electronic components and estimated at $88m over three years, the prime contract will provide the Army with a dense, ultra small, rugged server using the same high performing Intel Xeon E5 processors that Apple is shipping in its latest 'Pro' products.
