SAKOR Technologies has announced that it has supplied a test system to Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) to be used to test the flight control system for the Dream Chaser spacecraft. Dream Chaser is a lifting-body, reusable, crewed or uncrewed horizontal-landing vehicle. It is owned and operated by Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and is designed as a space utility vehicle for low-Earth orbit.

Gore & Associates (Gore) has announced that GORE Microwave/RF Assemblies, 7 Series were installed in the SmartSky Networks King Air B200 airborne test platform developed to optimise their new air-to-ground network and test future technologies and applications. Gore engineers worked closely with SmartSky to design and provide high performance, vapor-sealed microwave/RF assemblies in a very short timeframe, allowing SmartSky to continue to stay on schedule with the deployment of the aircraft test resource.

Portable test programme supports test requirements
Marvin Test Solutions has announced that it has been awarded an $8.6m Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) contract by the US Air Force to provide chassis and instrumentation for the production of PATS-70A test sets used for O-Level and I-Level maintenance of A-10/C aircraft, as well as upgrade kits for existing PATS-70 test sets to the PATS-70A configuration. Work will be performed at the company’s Irvine, CA facility with expected completion by mid-2019.

Alien ocean helps test NASA outer space submarine
Engineers know how to design submarines on Earth, but building one gets a lot trickier when the temperature drops to -300ºF and the ocean is made of methane and ethane. Washington State University researchers are working with NASA to determine how a submarine might work on Titan, the largest of Saturn’s many moons and the second largest in the solar system. The space agency plans to launch a real submarine into Titan seas in the next 20 years.

Dynanometer test system evaluates electric steering systems
A complete dynamometer testing system for electric steering systems has been delivered to Hyundai Mobis by SAKOR Technologies. It will be used by the corporate engineering group in South Korea for engineering validation and performance evaluation of electric motors and electronic control units (ECUs) that directly control the motor during electric steering.
